22-10-2011 GM on - Hinayana & Mahayana [2]

Hinayana & Mahayana [2]

We are talking about Hinayana & Mahayana.
We mentioned in previously session that both yana all depend on Affinity. During Buddha’s time, he spoke about Hinayana. Ancient Buddhism originates from Hinayana, then Mahayana and finally Tantrayana.
The Four Noble Truths is a centre of Hinayana. Cultivating [No Self]; [No Him/Them]; completely eliminating Sufferings, attain Arahat status (Fruit), no more reincarnation into 6-realms. Cultivating this way, worth our praise, not that it is no good, but only him is a Self settled man.
  
Mahayana is Making Bodhicitta wish, making big wish, like Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha’s , Hell not empty, swear not to become Buddha. Thus he is ever the Boddhisattva.

herefore if he changes him name to Buddha Ksitigarbha, “No, not right! I am still here! Why call Buddha Ksitigarbha?” As long as you are still there, still living, he will always remain as a Boddhisattva. Unless you become a Buddha, then he will take on the term Buddha. Even if you become Buddha, he will still be Boddhisattva.
This is the Boddhicitta Wish, the Essence of Mahayana, main aim to succor sentient beings. Base on self enlightenment, to enlighten all sentient beings to Buddhahood, Boddhisattva is [enlighten those with affinity].


Like Guru, myself, had make a Mahayana wish to succor sentient beings in every lifetime. Those in Hinayana do not like Reincarnation, do not like Rebirth. Both are too painful and have much suffering. Being with sentient beings, will be Contaminated.
For example, I do consultation on Saturdays. Vajramaster Lian Ning came and said: “The next one is very smelly, truly, very hard to bear his smell.” Asked me to be careful.
When this person enters, I held my breath. Can’t help it, I took a breath, Wow! Both eyes turn up whites. What is this bad smell basically? The whole consultation room fill up with this pungent smell, Contaminated by Sentient Beings is like this.
Therefore you said succor sentient beings, you truly succor sentient beings or sentient beings succor you?
Mahayana has to start learning from Hinayana, when you attained results, truly have foundations, you made Boddhicitta wish, also can. Anyway before you attained results, you can make as big a Boddhicitta wish as you wishes and your attainment/results depends on your wish & execute Boddhicitta.
 
Therefore cannot criticize Hinayana, you have to already attained results from Hinayana, at this time making a Boddhicitta wish, cultivate Mahayana also can.
 
But going direct from Mahayana cultivation also can. However, you have to remember, that Sentient Beings are contaminated, and unable to succor as they are infinite.
  


So people say that [Ksitigarbha wants Hell to be eventually empty one fine day], Which day?
One answer is to squeeze oil from sand, and then all sentient beings will be succored. Grabbing sand from the seaside and squeeze, squeeze, squeeze, squeeze, can produce drops of oil?  

Sentient being is unimaginable! To have hell empty? Will be empty one day when squeezing sand can produce oil, Hell will be empty.


Therefore those that made Boddhicitta wish, not bothered about the future, he likes reincarnation, rebirth, every lifetime vow to succor sentient beings, vow to come back with them, willingly accept suffering, actually suffering is happiness.

Chinese character is the best. Pain Fast, contain Pain and Fast from Fast joy which is Happy, Pain suffer, and then comes Fast Joy or Happiness. 

Therefore Mahayana’s Boddhisattva’s essence is here, everything is done willingly. Bearing suffering also willingly, reincarnation, and rebirth also willingly, this is the Grand Boddhicitta.


Succoring sentient beings through many lifetimes, knowing that sentient beings are hard to succor, he still wants to do so, hard to do, can do, that is a Boddhisattva.  


Thus both yanas have their own affinity. Also can’t blame Hinayana from saying Mahayana no good. Because once Mahayana makes wishes, his wishes and his Boddhicitta is Grand. Hinayana’s stand point is his No self and No Him, he transform into saintly and pure Arahat, saintly pure Arahat, this is Grand too.
  
All is Grand, all depends on Affinity. Because within sentient beings, GM takes one look can determine this person has Affinity with Sentient beings, he comes cultivate Mahayana, very good and go succor sentient beings, cultivate the 6 methods for all paths.

This person is reclusive, succor self might not be enough, only can cultivate Hinayana. Cultivate No self and eliminate own suffering. Then No Him, enter into Void. You ask him to succor sentient beings, beat him to death also he won’t appear. You kick his butt, honestly speaking, even futting [passing gas from the anus] also difficult for him.
  
Therefore all these depend on Affinity, all sentient beings have their individual hereditary habits. Sometimes he is for self, sometimes he is for sentient beings. 

Thus the Dharma that I shared for both yanas are different cannot compare against each other and lean on each other. Although sharing Dharma, Dharma that Sakyamuni Buddha shared but have to depend on the individual’s affinity be it Hinayana or Mahayana.
Like GM for example, succoring sentient beings every lifetime, not afraid of suffering, difficulties.
When face with suffering and difficulties, even more brave and diligent. Perceiving Suffering as and enjoyment, like drinking bitter tea, aiya! Very bitter. Still want to drink, will eventually have a good after taste! This is Boddhicitta!
