18-11-2011 Cultivation? 修法?

I recalled someone told me he don't have time to cultivate.

I said: Never mind, you chant Guru's mantra enough n visualize Guru smiling at you.

Another student ask: Reverend, why did you tell him chant Guru's mantra enough, don't need to cultivate?

Hahaha! When you chant Guru's mantra you are in actual fact Cultivating already!

The one that don't have time to cultivate a full session don't understand what is cultivation.
The other one that listened in also don't understand what is Cultivation.

Dear readers, would like to hear from you all.

Sean Low One has to understand the actual meaning of cultivation..
It shall not be just restricted to a particular 'format/form'..
If one finds it difficult to do full session, he can always pick part/one section of the session to start with. Chanting GM's mantra is a good way to get started. Most important one has to be happy doing it

Sandy Dharma Wangsa In my humble opinion, i think cultivation is not must sit then pray or chant mantra for hours. I think we can do cultivation in everywhere and everytime, sincere heart and clear mind is the important.
I think is easy to chant Guru's short mantra into heart and visualize guru smiling to us with his compasionate face. When we do that i think we are is already in cultivation, but i think when we have enough time it's good too to sit and chanting mantra for hours, cultivate full session. But more, i think cultivation is not just about chanting mantra. My means is we must can do cultivation in everywhere and everytime, in all our activities we can still do cultivation because i think life is cultivation from sleeping, wake up, eating, working is still include in cultivation. And if one have enough time but don't wanna to cultivate full session only chant guru's mantra, i think it's not good because we can easy be lazy. When we have time we must cultivate full session, when we really don't have enough time we can just chant guru's mantra. We must wise in cultivation, don't too hard or soft.

Helen Cheong True Buddha is just so easy that sentient being are too "fix" in mind that it has to be in temple or have an alter to do prayer or cultivation. Like what you advise by chanting GM mantra - GM will come. Inviting GM is equally inviting all Goddess and place them in our heart is already an alter. So we can chant any time we like
To me I always carry them where ever I goes :)

Ng Yian Yian Always starts with something better then do nothing...
When your 因缘到 automatic you will do the full session... ;)

Faith JunHao Umm,
I ever read that once we finish chant 5 million of Shizun Xin Zhou, then it is said that we are “graduated” from 4 Preliminaries, just chanting lhooo

Another precious article which I think have correlation with this stat
http://lotuschef.blogspot.com/2011/10/14-10-2011-gm-on-4-levels-of.html

Francesca Poon Hi junhao, don't quote. Use your own words la. Hehehe!

Faith JunHao Hi Fashi, ha7..most of them have answered well and got no words for my own answer LoL

Francesca Poon na! u are being too lazy! wake up that brain and cough out your own take. hehehe!

Nino Candra I'd say this is the example of the two extremes whereby the former knows about the 'formal procedure' of cultivation but shuns it by considering that it's very time consuming.

The latter, on the other hand, thinks that cultivation isn't that easy.

The latter (perhaps) thinks that cultivation must be of sitting in front of the altar, preparing offerings and following all the written procedure, which in the end may lead to being too formal and risks himself being a religious bigot.

If we read GM's explanation of the Big Seal (Mahamudra), He clearly exposes the way to integrate those two extremes in which we transform our 'scattered' state into 'calm and composed' state during the so-called formal sadhana and extend the 'calm and composed' state into daily activities (as per the former's inquiry).

Well, this is very important since many cultivators forget how to sustain the 'calm and composed' state during their daily activities.

Despite knowing that cultivation is a matter of affinity, it's still better if both of them know how to integrate the solution of both inquiries.

Francesca Poon Hahaha! dear nino, for someone who relaxes with playing a musical instrument or martial arts to de-stress, maintaining cool calm clear which I called the 3Cs is easy!

Most can't see what is right in front of them all the time and most like to pass their problem to others so as not to bear responsibilities.

They can then say: Fashi teach me this way. [ so it is Fashi's fault!]. Hahaha

Dear junhao, if u chant 8 million of GM's mantra, Gm will bring u on a tour to Maha Twin Lotus Pond

Nino Candra Aye, i agree with you. They should know what's the best for themselves, afterwards go on the progress, observe and don't doubt. Passing the responsibilities may look childish

Steven Thung 修行-修正自己的行爲。修正前必須要知道哪裏[],並洞察内在的[歪心態],去把它調直,自然行爲上就不會歪

First one must realise & acknowledge his mind defilements & impurities that will lead to wrong actions of the body, speech & mind.
Be mindful of all these at every instant so tat he will only commit the good and refrain from bad actions tat will create bad karma.
The crux is know each tots first before doing any action.
Most ppl do first and regret later or worst, not knowing what they hv done!
This seperate a cultivator from a layman

Francesca Poon Hahaha! Steven, the chinese version differ from the english one leh

Steven Thung ~~Cultivation is to correct wong actions to wholesome actions.
So one must know his unwholesome mind that lead to wrong action and correct from within.
Then his action externally will b corrected~~

Francesca Poon hehehe! u see u can do it! steven, u can say : fashi very evil. always play with your mind n others as well! Hahaha

Steven Thung Its ok,evil with wholesome intention is always better than the opposite. No one get hurt in this but benefits from here

Wilson Lim least must visualise grand master appear infront of us and bless us once in the morning and once before sleep. thats the easier and most lazy way of cultivating. no other excuss we have no time to do it la

Francesca Poon hahaha
so wilson, this is what u do? seems so familiar with u! Hehehe

Joseph Yeo the more we call it cultivation the more it is not, hee hee

Steven Thung wilson bijia lobang liao..hehehe
