They, the reporters, then made another to interview Singapore Buddhist Society’s Headquarters and the secretary gave them HIS Private and VERY PERSONAL view on this “Incident”!

  • Liew Wee Chong Dear Rev Lotuschef, from the back image of the picture, it looks a lot like Rev Lian Dao , Rev Lian Tian from one of local chapters .The Rev from Southern Transmission ( 南传佛教）is a guest Rev at the chapter. Let's look at the facts properly : Rev Lian Dao and Rev Lian Tian is from True Buddha School which has Tibetan Lineage from the Four traditional schools of Tibetan Buddhism . As all practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism know , it is not a must to be vegetarian in the Tibetan Lineage, meaning that its practitioner may take meat . Also , the guest Rev from Southern Transmission ( 南传佛教）， is also allowed to take meat.
  • Liew Wee Chong Sakyamuni Buddha himself, when asking for alms, accept any food, whether it is meat or vegetarian , that was given to HIM. This even means food that has gone bad .( Remember the last alm that was given to the Buddha , which is actually food that is turning bad , of which contributed to the Nirvana of Sakyamuni Buddha.) This alms giving is done so as to allow any sentient beings to have a chance to practise charity and giving . For those who gave to the holy Sangha , they would have planted wholesome and auspicious seeds and will reap many good Karma later on. Sakyamuni Buddha HIMSELF shown by example that HE does not discriminate between taking meat or vegetables.
  • Liew Wee Chong As for the comment of the Reverend from Southern Transmission siting near to females , which female is present in the picture ? Were they referring to the 2 nuns that were near him ? From my understanding of the Southern Transmission, the rule of not sitting near females is made so that it would not arouse desires in the monk. Would the 2 nuns sitting near to monk , including one that is on wheelchair ,aroused any desires ? If that is the case , then this rule should apply to all nuns in all Buddhist traditions and lineage . They should all sit at a distance from any males , whether they are monks or ordinary lay person. Since human desires is a universal condition and can flare up any time between a male and a female human being , regardless of whether you are ordained or not. But , instead , we saw that in Mahayana Buddhism, their nuns can sit close to a monk and also they can sit near to any male . So, how does those reporters reconcile this fact ?
  • Liew Wee Chong The newspaper reporter is doing unbalanced and biased reporting . How come they only report one side of the story ? Why don't they interview the nuns and monk at the scene ? Isn't this biased reporting ?By citing only the comments from Rev Lian Ping from Singapore Buddhist Association and without reporting the practices and customs in Tibetan Lineage and Theravada tradition, this amount to un-responsible reporting. A good reporter whould report both sides of the story and avoid sensationalising events . ( bplease look at the record of this newspaper , how many times had they sensationalize things ? It is not just restricted to Buddhism. They do the same to other religion ) . A Complaint should be made to the newspaper and clear headed persons should boycott and stop buying 新民日报， since they respond to profit motive and will do anything to up the sales of their paper..
  • Francesca Poon hi wee chong, I did not want to reveal the identity of the personnel in the photo from the newspaper article! I know roughly who are they. The main point is not who they are but those that hurled allegations of Inappropriate behavior against them!!!! From the reporter article, we see that the Reporter didn't do research but trust a Figure head to give them the RIGHT version of the TRUTH!!! Hahaha! What did I said about TBS? It is a group of Buddhist students which assembled together for the Purpose of learning Buddha Dharma to use for the benefit of ALL! Same thing with Any Self form group, the local Buddhist so-called Headquarters are form by a group of self proclaimed buddhist student and their purpose seem to have been muddle and not clear liao!!!  This happen in all sentient minded beings' formed group or sectors! No matter southern, eastern ... transmission; the main thing is all are Buddha's students, correct?
  • Francesca Poon My dear wee chong, do not compare what others do please. You are getting too carried away.  Cool, calm, clear minded please. If they practice Double or even Triple Standards, it is their own Karma! Misleading Sentient beings also their own Karma. We just want to point out that they are mistaken and therefore should not continue to do so. We are in actual fact sharing Dharma to wake them up. What you have said is more than enough. hahaha! Reporters are too hasty to put up a sensational piece! Spokesperson also too hasty to give HIS OWN PERSONAL VIEW! Seems FACTS OR TRUTH is Not Important to them!!! As I wrote, Don't Know?
