Lotuschef on Learning Buddha Dharma

This is an often use term and just as often, "misused"!
Hahaha!

WHY?
Firstly, many do not understand or have clear mindset of purpose.
What is your purpose?
You expand resources to learn something, you need to be able to use it, correct?

My 68 year old uncle, become baptized as a Christian. His reason, many attending that church strike lottery or have mark increases in monetary income from business or career! :)
Did his lot truly improves? NO!

Many took refuge and became Buddhist students, also for Self improvement. Some did so because they are after the rich followers of that temple or monastery.

Some think that just chanting sutras along with monks will improve their lots.
Those that took refuge in Tantrayana, mostly after "power", which they think they will acquire after learning from masters of that sector.

Sorry to disappoint you all, you are deluding yourselves.

In Purpose: You want to leave Samsara behind; you want to do something in this direction; you want to be able to eventually help others do so too!

Sutras are records by Buddha's disciples, of Buddha's teachings.
At the same time, each one is situational or for a certain purpose. Means a solution to a problem encountered by students or public.
There is no point to blindly chant and not put effort to LEARN what is Buddha teaching.

Note that No One has Proprietary Rights to Buddha's teaching!
It is for All Sentient Beings!

Listen to Guru explaining various sutras in simple terms. Giving Real Life examples at the same time.

As for those that made you more confuse after listening to their Dharma speeches or explanation of sutras, they mostly fall into the category of [Don't know, Act know], bluffing their ways through! :) Not Kidding!

Buddha Dharma is a philosophy of living life happier and healthier and at the same time sharing it generously with all.

So please extract the very Essence of Buddha's teaching and not blindly follow others chanting them.
You have to be able to use them in everyday life, then you can state you are Learning Buddha Dharma!

Cheers all.
