Crazy Wisdom - 如是我闻 Thus Have I Heard [2]

http://www.andrew-may.com/zendynamics/thus.htm
Thus Have I Heard
Maurice Walshe, Middle Way (Volume 69:3 p. 167) November 1994

[This clearly means that the reciter is introducing traditional material handed down to him, and I have always assumed that the Pali formulation had a similar meaning
(the commentarial idea that Ananda used these words to introduce what he had heard from the Buddha's own lips is dubious, to say the least).

Hahaha!

Now let us look at this from another angle!

In Buddhist philosophy, or Buddha Dharma, there is No Absolute Right & Wrong!

[ John Brough was a great scholar, but on this occasion he was demonstrably wrong, and so incidentally was Edward Conze, who somewhere expressed agreement with him, even expressing pleasure that one small point had been definitely settled. It has been, but not the way he thought.]

What's my point?

To Ananda, his guru left him "instruction" before his guru goes into Nirvana.
These words seem to be the "Prefix" to share Buddha's teachings or experiences and from them, educate all that comes to learn Buddha Dharma posteriorly.

[Thus Have I Heard] is just a very Harmless phrase by itself, but bringing it to the Limelight like this, we have to look at the [Origin or Point] with the 4 noble truths.

What Point?
To the Writer that wrote the article, He has Found a Point.
Next, He Identify this Point,
Then, He Seek the Origin of this Point.
Finally, He attempted to Resolve This Point!

From Avatamsaka Book 10

[如人善方药,自疾不能救,于法不修行,多闻亦如是。
Like One that has knowledge of Medicine that can't heal self of illnesses,
even having much knowledge of Dharma but do not know how to cultivate is pointless.]

Avatamsaka Sutra

光明觉品第九 Light Realization Book 9

The answers are all in Avatamsaka Sutra. :)

With what Intent, did you set out to prove someone Wrong? :)

Thus I Have Heard - can be what Rumor Mongers use as their starting prefixes too!
Gossips! Hearsay!
Hahaha!

YES! Intent!

The example I gave in the previous article, is a group of students trying to use their Guru as a front and push their own agendas or views of their "Interpretation" of their Guru's words!

Thinking to use these phrase to give "Class" to their articles!
Thinking to use these to give them "Credibility"!
Did they succeed? :)
Depends on whether the readers of their statements have enough Wisdom of Discernment or not, of course!

The contents that follow these [Thus Have I Heard] should be More Important than picking on this usage, agree?

We know that most sutras were compiled by Ananda or with his help, as he is always beside Buddha.
His memory is great, like all Authentic or True Buddha's students.

Now, this might sound really crazy, but THINK:
For one that truly cultivates well, what you glean from sutras or dharanis are the True Essences.

IF, the big IF, the contents are WAY OUT and will not benefit any sentient being, DO you think, they will be "Allowed" to be circulated in this Saha World?

Hahaha!

I am telling YOU that Buddhas, Boddhisattvas or Dharmapalas, will have already Stopped any harmful material from being circulated!!!

Writer might like to study more about Enlightenment & in Tantrayana, YOGA with Guru or Any Yidam!

The Secret of the 9 Yanas were well hidden by Guru Rinpoche & Yeshe Tsogyal, in all kinds of places to prevent these from being destroyed, and also for posterity.

My Root Guru, Living Buddha Lian Sheng, is now sharing this one with all.

Before you doubt Ananda or anyone else, study the content of material shared First!

You might benefit greatly from anyone of them or more than one of them, by then, would you bother about the a mere Opening Phrase to any sutras?

Hahaha!

Cheers all
