Some people need to know what they do wrong before they feel remorseful and bring forth a repentance mind.

In Emperor Liang Repentance text, many of our transgressions that we have/may have commited are written. 

The text reminds us of many things that we think is OK, but it actually creates negative karma. 

It explains why some people are burnt by fire to death, born with repulsive looks, some breaks their bones, isolated by their family and friends, some are born as human but with many sickness or incomplete body organ. 

It also explains about the cause of evil destiny, i.e. resentment.

The ones that attend these type of prayers are those that are like you who are consciously watching your deed so as not to create any karmic negative.  

Some even think that they are so sinful that they have to say sorry all the time. Some instilled the feeling that no amount of repentance can save you, making you so paranoid too. 

However, try telling that to those that are die-hard fans of Maya!

I have encountered many & some even personally when I embraced Buddhism about 6years back.

People will continue to lie & cheat & harm irregardless of the Karmic reactions which were made know to them.

Lawyers that continue to lie for their clients to make big sums of money disregarding the harm they bring upon the innocents. 

I personally do not believe in putting fear into any one to make them do repentance because it won't work.

Also interfering in Karmic returns is not done.

I still choose Vajrasattva's 100-syllable mantra repentance over all others as GM has given us detailed explanation on its benefits. 

Added to that, it is easy to get people to chant this & I have seen instantaneous improvement in fellow students once they started to chant this mantra after chanting the repentance verse & mantra. 

That is also why I try to do this regularly, at least once a month & before Fire Puja sessions too. 

In cultivation, I believe we should do so happily & not be force.

Enjoy your Emperor Liang's repentance though!
