expectation of our path smoothening upon cultivation - you are motivated by rewards
Drop the spiritual response & etc & just cultivate for all sentient beings
When you dedicate all merits to all sentient beings without differentiation then your path will really smoothen.
Else come chop off my head. Haha!
Buddha teaches SELFLESSNESS, in 4 preliminaries you
Visualize 4 immeasurables from the start - bringing all sentient beings into the path of light empowerment from the Universe through True Buddha Lineage Guru & Divinities
you chant the 4 immeasurables vows - "ci bei xi se" wishing all sentient beings happiness
then you make a Boddhicitta wish to dedicate all big/small charitable acts & merits to all sentient beings while staying steadfastly firm in your refuge with Guru & triple gems
Then you repent past wrongs
then comes Vajrasattva to cleanse you & void all negatives
returning you to ORIGIN which is your Buddha Nature
Haha! it is all there.
When you become a Buddha, all that cultivate with you also become Buddhas.
See how great is GM's teachings??
Boddhicitta is the Buddha's Heart or his nature or characteristics
If you mean every word you chant, & carry it out in everyday life, There is no valid reason why you are still "not smooth".
I stop taking cultivation in certain temples because they just rushing thru the cultivation & over ride what I try to share with them.
So cultivation in those instances is just sitting there reading from the book & then good-bye, home sweet home.
No one benefits from spending the hour & a half there at all.
I sincerely hope you can go into the practice with your Heart & share Dharma with all sentient beings.
Thats the Ultimate part missing in many.
