榮譽董事一百萬
最近，有位弟子給我看一份雜誌，是聖嚴法師創辦的「法鼓雜誌」。映入眼中的是「榮譽董事邁向二千名」，這是一個很大的標題。

這位弟子分析給我聽，榮譽董事每名一百萬（台幣），二千名就是二十億。

我一聽是「二十億」，大吃一驚！

據我所知，聖嚴法師的「榮譽董事」制度，恐怕不是首創，他是跟著「慈濟功德會」的尾巴學的，他捉的只是尾巴中的幾根毛而已。「慈濟功德會」有多少榮譽董事，我不知道，我看只有天知道。

「慈濟榮董」及「法鼓榮董」的事，我的弟子雙目瞪著我，含意甚深，而我故作老僧入定狀，裝得若無其事，莊敬自強，處變不驚。

弟子說：「我們是否也來個真佛榮董？」

弟子說：「我們不一定要建大學，蓋醫院，或是電視台。但真佛老人院，臨終關懷中心，安養院，這些也非錢莫辦啊！」

有位弟子出主意：「既然榮譽董事一百萬，已經有慈濟及法鼓搶先作了，我們換個名稱吧！就叫『西方極樂世界榮譽公民』如何，參加者頒公民證，由師尊保證，決定往生西方！」

我聽了弟子們的七嘴八舌，心中黯然神傷，雙目無神，表情淒楚。

我說：「我對不起真佛宗，對不住真佛宗的推展。只因當年我答應了鳴和尚，此生度化眾生，不得規定價錢，只能隨意隨緣，我發了願，立了誓，至今無悔。但我亦知道，佛教事業無錢莫辦，我守我的誓願，但我並未規定弟子們要守我的誓願，也未堅持宗內委員、上師、法師要跟著我的誓願，所以你們要做，就去做，只是不要用我的名義。」

眾人聽了，皆默然。

The article is a good one as it touches on people using gimmicks to raise funds like issuing
西方極樂世界榮譽公民 Western Paradise Pureland Honorary Citizenship & asking GM to guarantee these RICH donors/sponsors will be delivered to Pureland upon their demise.

Upon hearing students debating best gimmicks to raise funds, GM felt very sad & both eye lifeless & his expression is one of extreme sadness.

GM made a promise not to fix prices but he does not demand that everyone follows suit, because he understands that survival is the issue for most organisation.

Pure Karma Vihara does charitable services for those needies but sentient beings are by nature GREEDY & we have been taken advantage of by many to date.
Thus we have to restrict our resources for the needies who are genuinely in need of our aid.

We do not encourage people who are greedy & take advantage of our charitable nature to deprive the needies.
If our prices does not agree with you, go find one that suit you more.

I heard a certain veteran Vajra Master did a fire puja in dedication to the deceased for an agreed price of $2000 but ended up asking for $6000. The family of the deceased quarreled over these as they are not prepare to pay more than the agreed amount.

Pure Karma Vihara's administration is not in my hands as I do not have the resources to determine who to donate to.
Perhaps if you can donate resources to fund Pure Karma Vihara's charitable services, we can do for free any event that is fully sponsored by you.

Remember I am a Lama & not working. I am dependent on others for my survival too.

Read GM's words above carefully and you will understand his outlook.

You also made a mistake in your statements. We do not fix a price on our dedication event.
We fixed prices on Special Dedication Request. This is not included in our scope of charity.

When people can afford & they try to get something free by lying or cheating, Very sorry to say, they already Broke many precepts as set down In Buddhist doctrines & etc.

Cheating Lamas & etc, is the same as cheating Buddha.
I am sure you don't want to do that.
