While talking about "how we can invoke spirits" yesterday, I mentioned about the spirits of animals . They have certain powers - albeit they are not very powerful in many aspects. However, we can still summon their help in our spiritual cultivation and rituals.

Today I am going to talk about the "ten stages of mind development."

A Dharma master who has a mind similar to that of an animal should be able to invoke the spirit of an animal. What is "animal mind"? Japanese monk Koho termed it "Yi Ti Di Yang Xin" (goats from different areas) . Two words can be used to describe the minds of animal: food and sex. Animals have the instinct to eat when they are hungry. And they copulate to satisfy their sexual desire.

Human beings who are interested only in food and sex will be reborn into the animal realm in their next life. Although a Dharma master can invoke the spirits of animal to help him do chores such as divination and misfortune eradication , his life style is not exemplary as his main concern is limited to food and sex.

Those who have committed the ten non-virtues of killing, stealing, indulging in sexual misconduct, lying, harsh speech, divisive speech, senseless talk, covetousness, harmful intent and wrong view are destined to descend to the animal realm. Ask yourself this question : "Why do people kill, steal and indulge in sexual desire ?" Mainly for the sake of food, fame, profit and sexual desire.

Do you think that those who have transgressed these precepts can still be effective in their rituals ? Maybe, maybe not. Why ? Because they have animal minds, they can invoke the help of animal spirits in their divination, especially issues which concern food and sex.

Those who can get help from animal spirits are able to con many people, as they have relatively strong spiritual power. Many mediums claim to enshrine Buddha, but the fact is their healing powers are derived from animal spirits. The source of power differs from person to person. If the medium in charge is only interested in fame, profit, food and sex, it is highly likely that only animal spirits will come to his assistance.

Therefore before I divulge more secrets , I have to stress to you that if seeking fame, earning financial benefit, eating good food and indulging in sex are your aims in life , you can still draw charms for people, cure people's sickness, and eradicate people's misfortune, but since your mind is so close to that of an animal, only animal spirit will appear to assist you. You have to remember this salient point !

Therefore as cultivators we must refrain from doing the ten non-virtues. Instead, we must cultivate the ten virtues. And learn the fundamentals of being a human being. Those who have committed the ten non-virtues are sure to descend to the animal realm in due course, since their behavior are not different from that of animals. A point to note is that even the force of animal spirit is powerful, what about that of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas? They must be formidable !

Therefore when a divination is very accurate it does not necessarily mean it was done by a Buddha. It could be the work of an animal spirit. When a temple is noted for its accuracy in reading your future, it does not necessarily mean a god has been in charge. It could be the work of a group of animal spirits. Under such circumstances, in order to mingle with the animals, the person in charge would have to behave like the animals, and eventually he would be trapped ! So if we want to live clean , we should not be mixing with this group of animal spirits.

In order to carry out spiritual cultivation, we must remain sober and have a clear mind . Once we aim only for fame, profit, food and sex, our mind will be filthy and this spells the end of our spiritual life ! We will be surrounded by animal spirits.

In conclusion, we should not underestimate the prowess of animal spirits. And we must understand that it is an animal's nature to seek fame, profit, food and sex.

Food – Purify First or Offer First? [2]

The article 'Food - Purify first or Offer First?' ~ This subject is a reverend, therefore, I presented Guru's take on this issue, attached below.

• Taking Meat or Vegetarian Meals

[--- The view of Tantric Buddhism is that all Buddhas are beings abiding in the mind of non-discrimination. Therefore, in the eyes of the Buddhas, wine and meat are not seen as wine and meat. 

A practitioner with actual attainment will transform the wine into nectar, and the meat into cleansed food. 

As he delivers the souls of the slaughtered animals, there is no danger of misbehaviour in consuming wine and meat.

A practitioner who has no spiritual stamina will drink wine until he is drunk, and consume meat out of gluttony. He has breached a major precept in Tantric Buddhism, and has created a heavy karma for himself, which would draw him to the Vajra Hell upon his death.

On the surface, both scenarios may appear similar, but they are separated by the polarities of purity and impurity! ---]


[--- Consuming vegetarian meals in itself has its merits, but it is not a definite key to attaining buddhahood. 

If taking vegetarian meals by itself could lead to buddhahood, horses, cows and sheep would have long attained enlightenment!

But any meal-eating practitioner must purify their meat by `blowing a gust of air` and reciting the Manjusri Deliverance Mantra. 

This is applying the Tantric method to deliver the souls of the animals, transforming the meal into purified food. 

Upon offering merits to the soul of the animal whose meat is to be consumed, the meat can thus be eaten. 

This is because when you have extended your compassion and delivered the soul, there exists no bond of negative karmic affinity between you and the animal soul. ---]

Hahaha! This is Guru's answer. The reverend did not understand why we have to do bardo delivery of animals & etc. " to purified the food, before offering to the Buddhas within".

Therefore the reverend should not volunteer the answer that : [DL: Of course Fo pusa (Buddhas and Boddhisattvas) must eat before have strength to work (do deliverance)!].

I sincerely hope that no one put the same question to me again, even if the same reverend happens to eat within your sight and then do the purification after his/her Fo Puja have strength to do work!

This actually also tell us that this person is not a true yogi and not listening to Guru or try to find out what is Guru's take on this matter at all. Once a student asked a reverend a question, sometimes it might be Guru wanting the reverend to learn the correct method and not transmit the erroneous baseless information to fellow students.

My point is the students concern sometimes want to find fault because I am a new recruit whereas this reverend DL, has been a reverend for more years than me. Like students said that I am not doing White matter chanting the way the other reverends have been doing for long time!

Hahaha! I wish to inform all those that think this way, that [White matter chanting has a Standardise version taught by Seattle and Taiwan Temples], and the ones that were done by those reverends that have been doing for a long time, are Personal Versions of their own. Also most of them DID NOT attend training at either temples.

As I have advised repeatedly, have a good look at those reverends and compare them with Guru. Why some had white matter chanting done, but still hanging around?

In Guru's words: These students have yet to yoga with me.

When you can't invoke Guru's presence, what you do is frivolous and a waste of resources and in certain situations, YOU, can be considered as a Religious Cheat!

In Tantrayana, one can cultivate swiftly upwards and also downwards very swiftly, bear this in mind please.

Guru said he likes to read. We all have to constantly find answers for ourselves too.

LJ noticed during mealtime in-flight that DL did mandala offering first then deliverance to purify offering.

LJ asked DL why she did not purify the food first before offering.

DL: Of course Fo pusa (Buddhas and Boddhisattvas) must eat before have strength to work (do deliverance)!

Hahaha!

What is GM's take on this issue?

We were at the HSR in Taichung.
We bought a few lunch boxes of meat and rice.

After deliverance and cleansing, we did the Great mandala offering and began to eat.

E shared his with his wife, V.

I told V to chant [Om Ah Hom] to cleanse before offering / eating.
[The Buddha/Divinities within also need to eat 'purified' food.]

J and S immediately asked me why V needs to do offering again with the same box of food which is already offered by E.

Dear readers, have you been reading my blog articles?

What did GM said about offerings? I posted this recently.

In offering,  then partaking of the food, one is actually offering to the Buddha and Divinities WITHIN.

When we do Fire Puja, we are offering EXTERNALLY to all Divinities and those listed in the script as offerers receive blessings or merits. Of course participants/attendees are also on the receiving end of these Offering sessions.

V is the only one that came out with [内供养/ 外供养 Internal and External Offering].

She also obediently do the cleansing then offering.

Haha!
