Meticulously preparing Offering or gourmet dishes to offer to GM Lu, is sincere efforts.
As GM Lu taught, you need to do invocation to all Divinities, including your Root Guru, then add all beings of the 6-realms;
You form mudra to do so, and appropriate visualisation followed by chanting corresponding verse & mantra.

As long as you have Sincerity, and follow GM Lu's instruction when doing Offering, You partake all your meals with GM Lu, be you physically present or not!

Hahaha!

I shocked many fellow students recently by asking them: Which Meal Didn't You Eat with Grandmaster?

Some were bragging about paying $$$ to dine with GM Lu!
Some were asking about whether they can offer certain items to GM Lu!

All in?
Remember the incident whereby GM Lu came across a big fish and he wanted to buy it and release it back into the sea?
The [Thought] of saving the fish's life is what counts!

If you put in sincere efforts in going all the way to get offerings, spend time to choose offerings, YOUR offering is already gladly received by GM Lu and all Divinities!

Don't fall prey to those that promise you privileged dining with GM Lu and ended up feeling cheated when you are seated real far away from GM Lu's table!

Rumour has it that a seat at GM Lu's table goes for USD 10 thousand! :)

GM Lu said that the [Invisible] is more worthy or precious!

Think Deeply and act wisely!

Wisdom is what fuel you to Enlightenment & ultimate Nirvana!

禅宗开悟故事 Zen Enlightening Tales – 少年一段风流事，只许佳人独自知 A Passionate exploit in youth that only the partner knows

圆悟克勤大师是宋朝临济宗杨岐派著名僧人。
Yuan-wu Ke-qin dashi is a famous monk during the Song Dynasty from Ling-ji school and Yang-qi branch.

他开悟的机缘尤为奇特，是从一首艳诗悟道的。
His enlightenment is unique and from a passionate poem.

克勤自幼禀赋聪异，一日能记千言，过目不忘，有神童之称。

Ke-qin is very intelligent since young, he can memorise a thousand words daily, won't forget anything he sighted, has title of Divine child.

一天偶然到妙寂寺游玩，看到案上的佛经，再三翻阅，爱不释手，遂出家为僧。

One day while playing at Miao-ji temple, he saw Buddhist sutras on the bulletin board, read it over thrice, and reluctant to let go, thus become a monk.

他参访过许多著名禅师，后来投到五祖法演的门下。
He has visited many famous zen masters, then went to study under 5th Patriarch Fa-yan.

 

数年之间，克勤精进不懈，时有所悟，并且将自己所写的诗偈呈法演印证，但师父却始终认为克勤还没有见到自性。
In a the few years, Ke-qin diligence is constant and occasionally has some realisation, and wrote down his realisation in poems or verses to present to Fa-yan to appraise.

后来，有一位曾在朝廷任职的吏部提刑大人，刚巧辞官返回蜀中，特来向法演问道：“什么是祖师西来意？”
Later, an ex-court official who was judicial commissioner retired and went back to his home town, specifically came to asked Fa-yan: What is the meaning of Patriarch coming from the west?

法演回答说：“提刑大人，你少年时代可曾读过一首艳诗？‘一段风光画不成，洞房深处恼予情。频呼小玉元无事，只要檀郎认得声。’

Fa-yan answered: Honourable Commissioner, have you read a passionate poem - "a portion of scene that can't be drawn, deep into bridal chamber troubled by love. Keep calling to Xiao-yu (a serving maid) to do simple task, just to attract the notice of the groom.

后面这两句和祖师西来意颇为相近。”

古时男女授受不亲，一个女子是不能主动对男性表示愉悦之情的，纵然是洞房花烛之夜的新娘子，也不能大声呼叫自己的夫婿。

只能枯坐洞房、等待夫婿的新嫁娘，自不免愁恼之情。

她只能频频使唤贴身丫环小玉拿茶倒水的，无非是要引起丈夫的注意，让他知道自己正在房中等待。

[In olden days, men and women can't come into contact with each other, and a bride can't take the initiative to express her emotion or feelings for the groom, even the new bride also can't call out to her groom during the wedding night.

She can only sit and wait for her groom, and can't help being worried or troubled.

Thus she can only called to her maid to perform small task just to attract her groom's attention, letting him know that she is waiting in the bridal chamber.

历代的诸佛祖师就是这位用心良苦的新娘子，而众生就是那位感觉迟钝的檀郎。
All the ancestral Buddhist masters are like this bride that uses much sincere efforts, and sentient beings are like the slow-witted groom.

祖师们的语录公案、诸佛的教示言说，就是那频呼小玉的弦外之声。

法演引用这首艳诗，自有其深意。

陈提刑听了，心解意会，口中频频称诺，满意地回去了。
After hearing the pointing out, the commissioner left with satisfaction, praising non stop as if from understanding.

克勤刚巧从外面回来，听到这段公案，满脸疑惑地问道：“刚刚听到师父对提刑举一首艳诗，不知提刑会也不会？”
Just at that time, Ke-qin came back and heard this Koan, his face full of doubt, he asked: Just now heard the poem Master used, I wonder whether the commissioner knows or don't know?

法演回答说：“他识得声音。”
Fa-yan answered: He knows the sound.

“他既然识得声音，却为什么不能见道呢？”
Since he knows the sound, but why can't he sight path?

法演知他开悟的机缘已经成熟，遂迅雷不及掩耳地大喝一声：“什么是祖师西来意？庭前柏树子呢！”
Fa-yan knowing that Ke-qin's enlightenment has matured, like lighting kind of covered his ears and shouted loudly: What is ancestral masters coming from the west? Cypress tree seeds in front yard!

克勤豁然开解，跑出方丈室外，看见一只公鸡飞上栏杆，正鼓翅引颈高啼，克勤笑道：“这岂不是‘只要檀郎认得声’的‘声音’嘛！”

于是将自己开悟的心得写成一偈，呈给师父：

金鸭香炉锦绣帷，笙歌丛里醉扶归。

少年一段风流事，只许佳人独自知。

诗意谓悟道如热恋中的情事，只能自证自知，旁人是无法知道个中况味的。
The poem's meaning - enlightenment is similar to being passionately in love, only can self know and self affirm, others won't know the depth within.

悟境言语道断，不立文字，好比少年的风流韵事，如人饮水，只许自知。

五祖法演见了，欣慰万分地说：
“见性悟道是历代诸佛祖师们念兹在兹的大事，不是小根劣器的凡夫众生所能造诣的。
今天你能和诸佛声气相通，我真为你高兴！”

五祖于是对蜀中的禅门耆旧传出消息说：“我的侍者终于参禅悟道了！”

克勤成了法演最杰出的弟子。

Coincidentally, GM Lu shared the same concept of Enlightenment that is One's own matter and no one can help one become enlightened.

Giving answers for enlightenment?

Hahaha!

GM Lu said during Sharpyinma event in Seattle, about his telling VM Ln about enlightenment.

A Buddha will fulfill your wishes!

But, is it good for you to be dependent on external sources?

Remember that: One's body speech mind will reveal whether One is enlightened or not! Can't bluff anyone, what more Self!

After SZ's announcement, his poison takes over.

As more people admire him, he failed to stand firm!

Like shangshi position or promotion often become Grave for cultivators! :) ---]


Dear all, listen carefully to SZ's speech again and his comments on this Invocation Verse.

Now look carefully at this student's face when he is chanting too.

His aura has obviously change quite a lot too!

Aging or something else? :)

Still remember to be joyful to let your sincerity show!

Works for when you are Invoking Divinities or Doing Offering to Divinities and all!

Met this student in Houston, Texas, Mi Yi temple over dinner.

A fashi to his left said that SZ said he is reincarnation of Marpa or Milarepa.

I said: Milarepa. I have seen his poster in a local chapter when distributing Dharma literature round the island back home.

He is friendly and humble too; as when I remarked that he is giving out light blessing to all around him, he humbly replied that the praise is too high for him.

After SZ's announcement and the continued adulation from fellow students, he seems to have changed.

When I greeted him in Taiwan after an event and SZ was giving Abhiseka, he walked straight pass and ignored my "Hello!"

Hahaha!

I said to SZ then: O! O! another one?

I heard lots about his activities though.

He quoted Termas in buses to fellow students on the same one as him, on journey after event at Caotun.

SZ said he spent more than 10 years studying in Tibet or Nepal.

So at least quoting Termas shows that he did learn something that he could remember.

However, given that SZ said if One is a Reincarnation of Buddha or Bodhisattva, One Needs to Cultivate to LINK UP to the relevant Divinity one reincarnated from!

Well, if he can't make it this lifetime, then he has to return another time to complete his assignment lol.

Once again: Reflection of One's activities on a regular basis is beneficial for Cultivation.

Such a coincidence that I shared "Liao Fan's 4 Lessons" today! :)
