禅宗公案 Zen Koan – 我也可以为你忙 Can I Help You?

佛光禅师有一次见到克契禅僧，问道：

Once, when Zen Master Fo Guang met Zen Monk Ke Qi, he asked:

‘你自从来此学禅，好像岁月匆匆，已有十二个秋冬，你怎么从不向我问道呢？’
From the time you have come here to learn Zen, much time has passed and about 12 autumns & winters already, why is it that you never ask "Dao" from me?

　　　　

克契禅僧答道：‘老禅师每日很忙，学僧实在不敢打扰。’
KQ answered: Senior zen master is busy everyday, student monk really dare not disturb.

　　　

时光迅速，一过又是三年。

Time flies, and 3 years has passed.

一天，佛光禅师在路上又遇到克契禅僧，再问道：

One day, ZM FG met KQ again and again asked:

‘你参禅修道上，有什么问题吗？怎么不来问我呢？’
Do you encounter problem during your Zen & Dao practices? Why don't come and ask me?

　

克契禅僧回答道：‘老禅师很忙，学僧不敢随便和您讲话！’
KQ answered: Elder is very busy, student monk dare not anyhow speak with you!

　　

又过了一年，克契学僧经过佛光禅师禅房外面，禅师再对克契禅僧道：

Yet another year has passed, as KQ passed by outside FG's room, ZM again asked KQ:

‘你过来，今天有空，请到我的禅室谈谈禅道。’
You come over, I have time today, please come to my Zen Room and converse about Zen Dao.

　　　　　

克契禅僧赶快合掌作礼道：

KQ immediately put palms together to pay respect and said:

‘老禅师很忙，我怎敢随便浪费您老的时间呢？’
Elder zen master is very busy, how do I dare to waste elder's time?　　

佛光禅师知道克契禅僧过份谦虚，不敢直下承担，再怎样参禅，也是不能开悟。

ZM FG knows that KQ is overtly humble, dare not directly bear responsibility, no matter how he approaches Zen studies, also won't be able to be enlightened.

　　　　　　

佛光禅师知道不采取主动不可，所以又一次遇到克契禅僧的时候，问道：

ZM FG knows if he don't take the initiative then nothing results, so he asked KQ once again when they meet, :

‘学道坐禅，要不断参究，你为何老是不来问我呢？’
Learn Dao and Sit Zen, must non stop study and analyse, why you always don't come and ask me?

　　　

克契禅僧仍然说道：‘老禅师，您很忙，学僧不便打扰！’
KQ still answered: Elder zen master very busy, student monk dare not disturb!

　　

佛光禅师当下大声喝道：‘忙！忙！为谁在忙呢？我也可以为你忙呀！’
ZM FG then loudly yelled: Busy! Busy! Busy for who? I can also be busy for you!

佛光禅师一句“我也可以为你忙”的话，打入克契禅僧的心中，禅僧克契立刻言下有所悟入。 

This statement of FG hit KQ's heart, and KQ immediately has enter into enlightenment.
　　　　　　

有的人太顾念自己，不顾念别人，一点小事，再三的烦人；

There are those that are too for self and not for others, a little small matters continue to trouble or disturb others;

有的人太顾念别人，不肯为己，最后失去好多机会。

There are some that too concern for others and reluctant to be for self, eventually lost many good opportunities.

禅的本来面目，就是直下承担！

The original facade of Zen is to direct bear responsibility!

当吃饭的时候吃饭，

When eating, eat;

当修道的时候修道，

When practicing Dao, practice;

当问的时候要问得重要，

When asking, ask importantly; 

当答的时候要答的肯定。

When answering, answer affirmatively.

不可在似是而非的里面转来转去！ 

Cannot circle to and forth between true & false!
　　　　

我可以帮忙，你为什么不要我帮忙呢？

Can I help you, why don't you want my help?

我为什么不可为你忙呢？

Why can't I help you?

人我，不是要分得那么清楚！

Others and Self, don't differentiate too clearly!

Cultivation must go Solo, right?

BUT! 

Going Solo, then One must armed Self with the required Keys to proceed too, agree?

Reluctance to ask when in doubt?

This reluctance can be due to fear of troubling or disturbing others OR

do not want to show Self's ignorance because of PRIDE!

One side with the Usnisa Vijaya Dharani & the other the 6-realms vajra mantra mandala.

We use to wrap sandal-wood sticks, (above) for Fire Puja.

We also use them to wrap around Refuge (Guiyi) Certificates.

You Are What You Say! [1]

New Year's eve, a fashi greeted me with: Lian Chu, how come you haven't die yet?

This person participated in Enlightenment Arrows Test quite some time ago, and Guru said to him that he is pretty near but still need to work hard.

However, info from fellow students are pretty negative regarding him after Guru's announcement.

He would sneak or get himself out of working or doing his share of daily chores.
Many sort of look up to him and seek advice from him or like to chat with him.

He has to move out, to not have to do daily chores.

What's my point? :)

He has mindset that my analyzing Core's announcements & Statements, will naturally result in a Death Sentence from Core!

He is yet another one who is Fixated about Control of others!
He still didn't understand what is Taking Control or Charge of Your own Life & Death!

When One is True & Sincere about Renouncing Sentient Home and Material, One also realized what is Wisdom of Equality!

Why should we hand over our lives to someone else to control and be dictated to?
Is this what Buddha shares?
Definitely Not!!!

TBS is just a gathering point for Buddha's students, to learn and share Buddha Dharma for the benefit of all.

It is not a Court to pronounce or sentence any one!

Why should I die for Telling the Truth as It is?

Let's have more understanding or comprehension of Buddha Dharma please.

From such a remark, do you think this person has understand True/Authentic Buddha Dharma?
From this same remark, do you think he truly understand or comprehend completely what he read from my blogs?
Do you agree that he develops Pride of Achievement PREMATURELY?
Do you also agree the Pride is something that A True Yogi should not have or crave to have?
