首先依五祖弘忍禪師，初無解悟。
First study under 5th Zen Master Hong Ren, but didn't reach enlightenment.
後來，聽到五祖祕密付法付祖衣給六祖「盧行者」，即率眾追殺六祖。
Later, he heard that 5th Master secretly transmit dharma and ancestral robe to 6th master [Yogi Lu], then led group to chase and kill 6th Master.
在「大庾嶺」追上。
Chase successful at [Da Yu Ling].
六祖見慧明禪師追至，即擲衣缽於磐石，說：「此衣表徵信物，可力爭，任君拿去。」
Upon seeing Master Hui Ming, 6th Master threw the robe and bowl against some great rocks and said: This robe is signifies Matter of Faith, can snatch with strength/force, up to anyone to take away.
慧明禪師上前取之。
Master Hui Ming went forward to take it.
「衣缽」如山不動。
[Robe & bowl] like mountain, immovable.
慧明禪師大駭。
Master Hui Ming was greatly shocked.
慧明說：「我是來求法的，不是為了祖衣，願盧行者開示於我。」
Hui Ming said: I am here to request for Dharma, no for the ancestral robe, hope that Yogi Lu teaches me.
六祖答了一句千古名言：「不思善，不思惡，正恁麼時。阿那箇是慧明上座本來面目？」
6th Master answered with a fame statement of infinite time: Not thinking of Kindness, Not thinking of Evil, right at that time. That one is the True Facade of Master Hui Ming.
慧明一聽，當下大悟。遍體汗流，泣而拜之。
Upon hearing these, Hui Ming immediately became enlightened. Perspiration flowing down from his whole body, he tearfully paid homage to 6th Master.
慧明禪師又問：「上來密語密意外，還更別有意旨否？」
Master Hui Ming asked again: Other than secret words and meaning, is there other directive?
六祖答：「我今與汝說，即非密也。汝若返照自己面目，密卻在汝那邊。」
6th Master answered: What I said to you, also not secret. If you reflect upon your own facade, the secret is on your side.
慧明禪師說：「我雖在五祖弘忍處隨眾，實未省自己面目，今蒙指授入處，如人飲水，冷暖自知。今天，六祖即是我師了。」
Master Hui Ming said: Although I study under 5th Master Hong Ren, actually have not study my own facade, thanks to your pointing out, like One drinking water, knowing its coolness or warmth personally. Today, 6th Master is my teacher.
六祖答：「汝我同師承五祖，善自護持吧！」
6th Master answered: Just like my studying with 5th Master, diligently persevere on my own.
（這位慧明禪師，後來改名為道明禪師，因為慧明與慧能，同一慧字，因避六祖上字，才改道明。）

我說：「六祖慧能禪師的這句不思善，不思惡，正恁麼時，阿那箇是本來面目？」
其中大玄旨，而且是大大玄旨，此旨是天大地大間的真理。
道明禪師一聽即悟。
我現在問大家：「汝悟了沒？」
我想，還是有很多人，思了又思，又思再思，遍體汗如雨下，但，仍然不知其中的玄旨。
六祖慧能又補充說了一句：「汝若返照自己面目，密就在汝那邊。」
（這句話更清楚了，更慈悲了）

最近。
有很多人問我：「師尊！什麼叫明心？」
「師尊！什麼叫見性？」
我一聽，便跑。
他們即追。
我說：「你們不要追著我問，追了大半日，大半月，大半年，也問不出一個所以然。你們何不返照自己面目呢？」
我實實在在的告訴大家，明心，一定要明明白白自己的心；見性，一定要親證佛性。
I truly tell all of you, Ming Xin =Understand Heart, must fully understand One's own heart; Jian Xing=Sight nature, Must self affirmed own Buddha nature.
這是無法去表現出來的，我不能夠告訴你，因為那是「我」的祕密。
This is there is no way to show and also cannot tell, because that is [My/Self] secret.

重要的是，你自己明白自己的本來面目，一明白，那就是你的了。
The important point is you must understand your own original facade, once understand, thats yours.
照光三昧！
Lighted up 3 forms!
你如果得了「照光三昧」，我保證你，馬上明白，什麼是不思善，不思惡，正恁麼時！
When you attained [Lighted up 3 forms], I can guarantee you will immediately understand what is not thinking of kindness and not thinking of evil, right at that time!

The above, hopefully will further stamp in the message that YOU & You Alone, can reach Enlightenment on your very own and MUST look inwards too!
Also, 6th Master is illiterate, which also exhibited the independence from Written words!
He is also not from a rich or wealthy family!
To those that are well schooled or educated in the written words, You too need to have the Keys to reach Enlightenment. Your academic qualification might aid you but not all the way though. :)
Now what's important?
Start from understanding Basics and build from there!
O! 6th Master's birthday this year, falls on the 28 March 2015. The Lunar 9th day of 2nd Month.
My Lunar calendar birthday also happens to be the same as 6th Master's. :)
27 March 2015 is Sakyamuni's birthday.
29 March 2015 is GM Lu's Ordination Anniversary, also that of Padma Guru.
