修行即隨方解縛 Cultivation is to follow the direction to solve matters

  佛祖曾如是說:
Buddha has said these before:

  「若人言,如來有所說法,即為謗佛,不能解我所說故。
須菩提,說法者,無法可說,是名說法。」
If anyone said that Tathagata has spoken Dharma, that is defamation, because can't understand or explain what I have said. 
Subhuti, dharma speaker has no dharma to speak of, is termed speaking of dharma.

  釋迦牟尼佛的這句話,悟者明白,未悟者實在不明不白。
These words from Sakyamuni, only those enlightened will understand and those yet to be enlightened truly won't understand.

  請看以下這段公案: 
Please look at the following Koan:

  吉州有位「志誠禪師」,最先在神秀禪師門下參學。
Ji Zhou has a [Zhi Cheng Zen master], at first study under Zen master Shen Xiu (Dharma brother of 6th Zen Master, Hui Neng)

  神秀禪師的門人,常常譏笑南宗的慧能禪師:
Students of Shen Xiu always ridicule those from the southern school under Master hui neng:

  「慧能禪師不識一字,有何所長?」
Hui Neng Zen Master don't know a single word, have what specialty/ability?

  神秀禪師卻說: 
But Master Shen Xiu said:

「他得無師之智,深悟上乘,吾不如也。
He has wisdom without teacher, deeply realised upper yanas, I am not up to his level.

且吾師五祖親付衣法,豈徒然哉!
Moreover, my teacher the 5th Zen Master personally bestow ancestral robe to him, how can he not be worthy!

吾所恨不能遠去親近,虛受國恩,你等諸人無滯於此,可往曹溪質疑。
I grief that I can't personally travel far away to be by his sides, falsely receiving Country's grace, all of you have no need to waste time here, can go to satisfy your doubts in Cao Xi (Place where 6th Master resides)

他日回,當為吾說。」 
When you return, then tell me what you learn.

  志誠禪師聽了,就赴六祖處,隨眾人參請,不說從何而至。
After listening to these words, Master Zhi Cheng went to seek out 6th Master, following many seeking knowledge, but not revealing where he is from.



  六祖告眾:「今有盜法者,潛在此會。」
6th master told the assembly: There is a Dharma thief immersed in today's assembly.

  志誠禪師大駭,出列,禮拜六祖。
Master Zhi Cheng was greatly shocked, he moved out and pay respect to 6th Master.

  六祖問:「你師如何教你?」
6th master asked: How did your teacher teach you?

  志誠答:「住心觀靜,常坐不臥。」
Zhi Cheng answered : Abide Heart observe Silence, often sit but not lying down.

  六祖說:
6th Master said:

「住心觀靜,是病非禪。
Abide heart observe silence is illness not Zen.

長坐拘身,於理何益?
prolong sitting confine or restrict body, this mindset has benefit?

聽吾偈言:『生來坐不臥,死去臥不坐,原是臭骨頭,何為立功過?』」
Listen to my verse: Alive sitting not lying down, Dead lying down not sitting, originally is smelly bones, for what to erect merit or penalty?

Lotuschef: <<My humble opinion: This verse is pointing out that our bones are also illusive and composite of 4 great elements, namely Earth Water Fire Wind. 
Thus with an illusory form, how to have any achievement?>>


  志誠問:「大師以何法教人?」
Zhi Cheng asked: Great master uses what dharma to teach?

  六祖答:
6th master answered:

「吾若言有法教人,即是誑你。
If I have dharma to teach others, that is lying or bluffing you.

修行只是隨方解縛,假名三昧
Cultivation is to follow the direction to solve matters, falsely name Samadhi.

再聽吾偈言:『一切無心自性戒,一切無礙自性慧,不增不減自金剛,身去身來本三昧』。」
Listen to one more verse: Everything without heart self nature discipline, everything without doubt self nature wisdom, no increase nor decrease self of vajra, body go or come originally Samadhi.


  志誠禪師一聽大悟。
After listening to these, Zhi Cheng Zen master greatly enlightened.

  志誠禪師呈上一偈:
Zhi Cheng offered respectfully a verse:

  五蘊幻身。
pañca skandha illusionary body.

  幻何究竟。
what is ultimate of illusion.

  迴趣真如。
Transmigration or return to True nature.

  法還不淨。
Dharma is still not pure.




  我們看了釋迦牟尼佛的「如來無法可說」,及六祖的「有法教人,即是誑你」。

  說來說去。

  二個字:「無法!」

  悟者明白:一切說法,無非「隨方解縛」,一切修行,也是「隨方解縛」,全是方便。
The enlightened ones understand: All dharma spoken or all cultivation are [Follow direction to solve matter] only, all methods of convenience.

  「真如」何有法?

  「真如」何有方?

  「真如」何有縛? 
[True Nature] has what dharma; direction; or solution?


  這「隨方解縛」又是為了什麼?
This follow direction to solve matter is for what?

只是「因病治病」而已矣!
Only for [Illness to treat illness]!

  六祖慧能大師的一偈,令我震撼:
I am greatly moved by 6th Patriarch Great Master Hui Neng's verse:

  一切無心自性戒!

  一切無礙自性慧!

  不增不減自金剛!

  身去身來本三昧!

  這個偈說的是什麼?
為何「志誠禪師」一聽此偈便大悟了?

  我說無念,你明白嗎?

  我說無礙,你明白嗎?

  我說無生,你明白嗎?

  我說三昧,你明白嗎?

  大家想要開悟,參參這一句:「迴趣真如,法還不淨!」參透了,來告訴我吧!
if you want to be enlightened, go figure these: Transmigration or return to True Nature, Dharms is not pure!

仁者吉祥:
「迴趣真如,法還不淨」
迴是回歸。趣是趨向。不淨是不對。
就是說如果我們,從五蘊的幻身,想要返回真如的時候。法反而不對。因為墮在法執中。
在虛幻的身心當中,任你如何造作,還是離不開虛幻。
從虛幻的身心迴趣真如,事實上,就是真如也成為虛幻。
