菩提子 Rudraksha Seeds

菩提子（物名）是指西藏语之Bodi－ci果，可以作数珠，产于雪山地方，非菩提树之实也。

Bodhi seed (noun) in Tibetan Bodi ci-furit, can be make into counting beads, grown in snow mountains, not seeds of the Bodhi tree.

菩提，是梵语bodhi 音译，是觉悟、智慧、知识、道路的意思，

广义讲是断绝世间烦恼而成就涅盘的智慧。

Bodi, in Tibetan sounds like Bodhi meaning Realisation, wisdom, knowledge, Pathway, generally means severing completely sentient or worldly problems or worries and attaining wisdom of nirvana.

因佛祖释迦牟尼在菩提树下证道，菩提即为觉悟，成就佛果之意。

As Sakyamuni Buddha affirmed path or enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, Bodhi is thus realisation and attainment of Buddha's fruit/path.

Rudraksha is a Sanskrit compound consisting of the name Rudra ("Shiva") and akṣa ("Teardrops").

I remember few years ago, I placed a few Bodhi seeds on the altar before a homa session and then gifted them to those that wishing to have children.

Well, one of them had a baby boy!

For the coming Jakarta event on 24 March 2018, will also place the Bodhi seeds on the altar for blessing and distribute to all attendees of Jakarta event and subsequent ones in Batam and Medan.

Its a pretty meaningful gift as it symbolises realisation or enlightenment and attainment of Path or Buddhahood.
