Bai-zhang is the one that promoted " A day without work, a day without food" concept of Zen Farming Lifestyle.

I have no virtue from work, life in this world, if do not personally work, then as if become a useless person?

ZM Bai-zhang said: since not working, how can eat rice?

I have shared this story before. :)

As GM Lu said: Live one day, cultivate one day.

AND, everything is cultivation!

Eating is nourishing one's body or form thus a method of upkeeping or maintaining one's ability to cultivate and help others.

In recent article, Nun Liao-ran burnt her own face to make it ugly in order to be accepted into Zen school to study Zen.

Boddhidharma's successor, Hui-ke, amputated one of his own arms, to cleanse himself.

Injuring one's body is anathema to Sakyamuni buddha's teaching! :)

Like burning self to death, a common way for Buddhist monks and nuns to stage protests against authority, breach a very important precepts of Killing.

Killing self or others is breach of one of the 5 precepts!

Knowing the First Elemental Truth, or being enlightened fully, One is impervious to external or internal environmental conditions.

Is there need to damage One's own form?

Remember the "Broken stove spirit" story shared in this blog?

Your very own Buddha Nature has no fixed form nor place to abide.

Everything must have your own efforts!

Cheers all
