There Is Me

http://www.fo5.cn/gushi/fo/21/804.html

The following are dialogue between Zen masters Yun Yan & Dao Wu (elder by 11 years) who are fellow disciples.

On day, Yun Yan was sick, and Dao Wu asked:

Leaving this leaking shell, go towards which place then can meet again?

Zen Master Yuan Yan said without hesitation: Place of no birth nor disintegrate.

ZM DW unperturbed, raised a different opinion:

Why don't said Not no birth nor no disintegrate place, also not seeking to meet again?

After ZM DW said these, and not waiting for YY to reply, he picked up a straw hat and walked out.
ZM YY said: Please wait a while then go, I want to seek your opinion, Take this straw hat for what?

ZM DW answered: Have usage.

ZM YY asked: When wind and rain arrived, for what purpose?

ZM DW answered: To cover up.

YY: He still accept the covering?

DW: Although like this, still need no leak.

When YY recovered, make tea because of thirst, ZM DW asked: What are you doing?

YY: Make tea!

DW: Make tea for who?

YY: There is one such person who wants tea!

DW: Why don't he do so himself?

YY: Fortunately, There is Me.

These 2 masters differed in direction or viewpoints.

Birth Disintegrate or not, in a Zen practitioner's heart is One and the same.

论生死,非常淡然;

This way of Affirming Self, not following Birth or Disintegrate, not bothered about exist or not, this then is Zen's Break Free!
