TBS has a standard version for the above but sad to say many do not adhere to this version.
Just like many TBS standard practice for example True Buddha Repentance, many have their own version and I took part in one that truly shocked me.
The person leading do not have any idea of what is the point of the whole practice and before the repentance part is done, and everyone is still kneeling, we were told to go into Samodhi for 5 minutes.
After 2minutes we were told to get out of Samodhi.
Haha!
The lead and the In-charge both have no idea of what this practice is all about!
My point is let us be clear on what is the purpose of each practice and do it well, shall we?
GM taught us 3 basic requirement to cultivate, namely : visualization; hand mudra & mantra.
Referring to my article on the 3 poisons:- Greed, Anger; Ignorance.
Let us explore and use our hearts to discern what we should do and not follow blindly because someone say they are original or have powers.
In white matter chanting, the purpose is to chant as many sutra as possible to dedicate the merits to the deceased to increase their resources in pureland/etc.
Most important we have to deliver them to pureland with the help of GM & all Buddhas & Boddhisattvas.
With these in mind, all participants wholeheartedly chant sutra/mantra and then visualize the deceased sitting on a lotus rising upwards or being fetch by GM or Amitabha.
GM reinforced this during his Dharma Speech last year at Zu Xian Chapter in Taiwan.
I have seen some scattering cooked food and etc all over the chanting area; spitting into tissue paper and scattering them all around.
This is not what was taught in Seattle & Taiwan.
THe serenity and dignity of the chanting area does not exist at all.
The usage of septre profusely to strike & rid 'something', disregarding the harmful effects that can result from these actions. Remember the unseen sentient beings? Remember too GM's and Buddha's INFINITE COMPASSION?
The whole scenario is like someone practicing some rituals of sacrifice and I am surprised that this is suppose to be white matter chanting! I am even more surprised that this is acceptable to many too!
During cultivation I shared some points about observation and analysis.
First of all, we find out the definition or purpose of each practice and how to go about it in the order as taught by GM.
Observe the person who made claims of doing the authentic version.
Compare with GM.
Does this person has GM's aura?
Does this person has Gm's agility & health?
Does this person shine/sparkle like GM?
Has he the wisdom and knowhow to perform ceremonies that truly works?
Has he the compassion of ensuring that no sentient being whether visible & invisible gets hurt by his actions?
Finally, listen only to GM and not let anyone tell you that they have powers and they got the right version and etc. If anyone practices any arts that may harm any being then it is definitely not GM's teachings or that of Buddha.
